D06-11. DID HE KNOW? A fellow wearing his tall satin top hat tilted slightly sideways sat still while an operator executed his resealed sixth plate. I wonder if the subject realized that his vest was gapping? His pose was definitely stilted which obviously added to the gent's uncomfortable posture. I can't remember when I ever saw another man resting his elbow so far back on two small books AND grasping the edge of the table cloth (for security?). He was a large subject too! The operator painted those tomes red. He daubed red, blue and lime green on the cloth. Even his client's flesh tones were well rendered. Gold was placed on his stickpin. Weird weaves of undulating tarnish are visible on the right, as well as harsh buff marks on his sleeve and to the right in the drop. A blue speck is on his shoulder. There is strong contrast and decent depth. His separated leather case needs some help. $385
