D07-30. GOOD HEALTH. Her chubby grandchild did his best to fidget while their sixth plate dag was taken, but granny was more than capable off keeping him calm just long enough while the maker used his skills to the best advantages. Their retaped plate (by another hand) simply sparkles when the fine leather case is opened. The camera's lens allowed the operator to focus his tableau with superb sharpness. The crispness of the likeness reveals every crease and fold in the woman's face, the threads in her day cap and the details in the intricate lace collar. We can also study her daguerreian brooch that contains a younger man's dag. Could he have been another grandson? I am also curious about the placement of her ring, not on the customary finger, but worn on her index digit. There is a colony of hazy soft faint dots above the lady's head and above the couch on the right. Even using a loupe I can't determine what they are. I don't believe that they are problematic. One brown dot is on grandma's cheek. $265
