D09-223. QUARTER PLATE CASE! Maybe the woman couldn't afford the larger size and settled for a sealed sixth plate. Does it really matter? Her friendly eyes and marvelous mouth are so pleasing that I barely noticed that magnificent dress she wore, circa 1847, or the care she had taken with her dark tresses prior to arriving for her appointment. The gal's relaxed comportment is impressive. Her elbow grazed the edge of the table that was hidden by a blue tinted cloth. Mat scrapes are nearly hidden in the dark patina that hugs the brass. Tiny mold dots are present if you look for them. There is haziness under the glass that will disappear with a new piece and an archival seal. Casey would charge $40 for the work. $145
