D10-005. WAS EYE COLOR . . . Really so important to this youthful swain that he asked the daguerreotypist to delicately tint his left eye blue and the right eye light brown? I think in 25 years of collecting retaped sixth plates, I have only seen this phenomenon one other time. There certainly was no mistaking the hue of his polka dotted bow tie was there? And didn't he have the hair wave going on? While he watched the operator the chemistry was in order to produce a nice bright reflective image. There are three brown spots and a couple mold spiders. The white specks on the left basically aren't there and the deep buff strokes disappear at the best viewing angles. The leather case needs a new hinge and the cover is missing the bottom rail. $145
