| D10-015. IF YOU HAVE . . . The same "need to know" mentality that I do, then you can completely appreciate the young lady that was majestically daguerreotyped in her sixth plate, that has a new seal. I would love to have a time warp open long enough just to observe the brilliant colors that were used in the teenager's striped dress. She appears to have been a statuesque, full-bodied kind of gal. The maker was obviously impressed with her costume, since he purposefully kept her arms widely separated, to reveal the smashing design. The girl's friendly, gently rounded face is supported by a solid neck and broad, bare shoulders. Very thin, scattered oxidation floats around her. Teen mat marks and a few white flecks are also visible. The worn whole leather case has an absolutely vibrant deep red velvet pad that is embossed with a singular leaf. The piece was probably produced in 1846. $355 |
