| D11-154. THIN OCTAGONAL. A full view of this smiling chap was presented by the widest opening brass mat commercially made for retaped sixth plates in the daguerreian era. His likeness was taken circa 1845 by a daguerreotypist who wasn't hesitant about placing his camera further away (than normally seen) from his client. I wonder whose idea this very loose, casual composition was? Aside from lovely original patina and a few minor mold mites, there are a parallel pair of deep buff marks that really do not disappear when the mellow man is appreciated. His intact leather case has a rare cover theme and a plain reverse. I have made an image of the former. $180 |
