This sixth plate dag comes in a whole case that is very plain. Not a very early case, but c 1844-45, with a silk pad. At first Casey and I thought the dag might not be as early as the mat and case make it out to be, but upon resealing it, I would say the mat is original and the case probably too. The image has some mold spiders here and there as well as a few tarnish spots. His clothes have some daguerreian frosting. His face is tinted.
