BOY BAND. This quarter plate tintype presents a marvelous assortment of kids, including a young hooligan on the left and that mean overseer behind the lads! The reflections in the windows were awesome too. The tinting on the drums and even on the boys’ faces and hands were an added feature. The slight cant of the outdoor portrait is rather amusing. Once I received the quarter plate tintype, I decided to replace the filthy glass. Upon seeing a scan, Erin pointed out that those were frames of images on the left side and that this building was the site of a tintypist, and was certainly the location of the studio. The resealed scenic portrait is in a leather case with a professionally repaired spine.
