There is something unreadable on the velvet in the middle of the pad. It’s most likely an address. Craig’s lists only one Johnson as having worked in Cleveland, Charles E., from 1849-1853, which works for the date of the sixth plate image. Johnson had quite an interesting daguerreian career, which began very early in New York City. So, by the time these three young men visited his studio he had been making images for at least a decade. The dag was resealed a while back and could use another at some point as there is some minor re-hazing. The dag has great contrast. There are some mold spiders scattered on the surface, most noticeable at the top. The image comes in a case with a repaired spine.
