…one of the men depicted in the movie Gangs of New York? He surely has the steely eyes of a semi prominent man of the era. But, I am not sure this mean was mean enough. His countenance seems deliberate, stern, and unfading, but not ferocious as one would have to be to run with a gang in 1860s NYC. Though sometimes looks can be deceiving. We shall never know the truth behind his eyes. This tintype is held in a nice period case with a split spine. The quality of the image is top tier and could easily be a NYC maker, but there is no way to know.
