This is just a great portrait ambrotype – and you get two for the price of one in this sixth plate! I love that they’re both wrapped in a shawl or blanket. It must have been a chilly day in the studio. I also love the slouch of the guy on the right’s hat. The sixth plate image comes in a whole case and the mat has a Cutting’s Patent stamp at the lower right. The image is near fine condition, with a few very minor emulsion imperfections. It is not resealed. They are identified in the bottom of the case, although I can’t read it, and if accurate, it was taken July 18th, 1855.
