Mailed from Polo, IL to Mrs. E. Taylor of Denver, CO in May 1906, these eight postcards from an E.C. both quote from and try to capture in pictures the 1826 poem The Old Oaken Bucket by Samuel Woodworth. E.C. notes on card No.2, “These cards do not quite come up to my expectations, but will send them anyway.” Indeed, he could have had a better hand at tinting, but it was only 1906 and rather early for hand tinting your own photos! He (or she) probably printed them too.
