THE PERFECT CASE! The very handsome young swain, resealed by another person, and also cleaned, leaps out of the oval mat surrounding him. His leather book style case had “H. A. Eickmeyer Patent Feb. 27 1855” embossed across the bottom on the reverse of the brown leather embellished by golden filigree. The fellow?s daguerreotypist certainly knew how to make a ninth plate. Excellent contrast, lighting that created dimensional depth and the suggestion that his patron shift his eyes away from the lens worked perfectly! Re-tarnish is visible and some of the white specks seem loose on the silver.
