I STRONGLY SUSPECT . . . This friendly and attractive teenager visited the studio of Southworth & Hawes in Boston to have her recently re-cleaned and resealed ninth plate remembrance taken. The close-up pose, the use of soft focus on a double-silvered plate and that vignette were characteristics of the firm in the mid-1850s. The lass is presented in the classic black leather Boston style push button case.
