This little girl is framed by darkness. The daguerreotypist made a very good decision here to offset her pale skin and dress with the background and slash of a tinted dark blue tablecloth at the lower right. Her face is also lightly tinted. She is identified as Sarah M. H. Smith and it is dated 1855 in the bottom of the case. The sixth plate image is resealed and comes in a case with the split spine. It’s in very good condition with a few little spots and mold spiders.
