Quarter Plate

MOTHER’S MOUTH! This horizontal retaped quarter plate is held in a lovely complete leather case. There are marks on the surface above the younger women?s heads and some nearly invisible black lines, from the day they were taken I think, on the pleasant sister?s face. The contrast and reflected depth are still superb. Now, to those crinkled lips. Mom and the elder gal both had frightful expressions. The old man, maybe grandfather, was certainly the focal point of the foursome. His was an extremely broad face with dynamic features. I know that this must have been a cherished daguerreotype, but aren?t the subjects totally WEIRD? If you like strange people the foursome certainly should belong in your collection. I should mention that a skylight was used for the source of brightness and the backdrop ended on the left.
