THE USE OF GOLD! The lad was positioned with his arm resting on a wonderfully tinted tablecloth next to a stack of mother of pearl photo cases. His unknown daguerreian must have had an excess of gold paint on his palette since he proceeded to embellish the spines of each box and the boy’s buttons. He continued to use his artistic skills by adding pigments to that tablecloth and the little fellow’s cheeks! The lovely quarter plate childhood remembrance has been resealed. I couldn’t hide the severe mat scrape on the left, done previously when a horrible hand flipped the mat. There is ample patina on the surface.
