IF ONLY! Alas a combination of weeping glass and deep buff marks in a couple places have left condition issues. This was certainly an astounding quarter size daguerreotype after the gent sat for his likeness, circa 1849. Outstanding illumination bathed the subject and razor-sharp focus captured every crevice on his erudite face. The maker managed to not place reflections in those wire rimmed glasses that were embellish with gold. The tonality on the silver is beyond remarkable! The depth is holographic and the contrast is also exemplary! The retaped dag is kept in the original complete leather case that has a lovely floral theme pressed on the cushion inside.
