THE PORTRAIT . . . Is a quarter plate in a repaired leather case showing a very astute gent looking off when he was taken circa 1853. The painted background was arranged with a real curtain on the right, which was rather funky. The man held the top of his cane and instantly commanded the attention of anyone who viewed this likeness. He must have been a powerhouse during his actual lifetime too. There is a slender tarnish stain and two small wipes in the fabric that are difficult to see. The dag was retaped.
