“JULY 17 1854”. Please permit me to introduce George and Margret Moran who were flanking their three small children, George Wilfred 7, Mary Louise 5 and Joseph Charles 3 when they were taken in quarter plate size on this horizontal palette that has been archivally resealed. Mom, who was a lovely lady and Mary, both leaned towards the center of the composition. Dad and his older son sort of anchored the likeness while little Joseph was seated between them. There is patina inside the oval brass mat, blue and brown spots in places and a flurry of white specks around dad. That might be a finger mark next to his shoulder too. The image has excellent contrast and great reflected depth. All the information was inscribed in the bottom of their leather case that needs a new spine.
