I wish that my scan could better capture the lovely tinting on this later 1840s quarter plate! Not only his tie has color, but his face, hands, and brown beard. Alas, my scanning technique is lacking and some dags just have to be seen in hand. So, I must say you will not be disappointed with this one. The urn at the right is suggestive of a plate by Burgess in New York, but that is a tentative attribution. This image comes in a half case and was resealed by my dad in 1988. It is in fine condition.
