September 16 1849…

…is etched into the glass above this beautiful bride and groom.  Her name, written on the glass, was Charlotte H (Price) Mason and his, Rush Mason.  The location of Cincinnati, Ohio is also notated on the left side of the glass. We have only seen this type of etching once before, in apparently the same hand.  That image, which long belonged to Dennis, is also a half plate and pictures a group taken in Pittsburgh, PA (see second photo). Unfortunately, dad passed before I purchased this fine dag of Charlotte and Rush.  Though found years apart from different sources, they were once together as this case and the other have a label with the name, Mrs. R. P. Walsh(sp?).  In both images, Charlotte takes center stage actively playing the guitar and wonderfully attired as a bride. Though, Rush is no slouch with white gloves that complement his bride’s dress nicely. She has definitely out dressed her partner with a flowing veil, gold accents and a small tinted bouquet. Whoever took this dag was a master of the art, capturing the white tones perfectly as not to cause solarization.  The image has been resealed and is in a whole case. The condition overall is excellent with a small scratch on Rush’s hands.  A line at the lower left is on the glass.
