A FORTHRIGHT MAN. The unidentified gent was taken circa 1852-1854 most likely when John Stimpson had a gallery at either 58 or 131 Hanover St. in Boston?s North End. While the fellow?s silvery hair was sharply focused, his face and collar remained slightly soft due to the use of an inferior lens I suspect. The resealed sixth plate is kept in a fine leather case. The daguerreotype has good reflected depth. Tarnish is visible inside the oval brass mat where there are also teeny abrasions in a couple places.
