THE HINT OF BLUE . . . in the gent?s wayward head of hair, along the edge of his swanky vest and on the outer sleeve of his woolen jacket was part of the original process when he was taken on the retaped sixth plate at the end of the 1840s. He was in the capable hands of an itinerant operator or a country daguerreian. Light streamed into the small space effectively bathing his handsome face and highlighting those intense eyes looking directly into the lens. That snazzy bowtie certainly drew my gaze into his rich, rather random portrait. Green dots are above the fellow?s head and there are blue circles and mat scrapes elsewhere on the holographic mirror. The complete leather case is slightly warped.
