SOMEONE . . . Cherished the man enough in life to have this sixth plate COPY dag showing him laid out in death done by a daguerreian who might have also taken the original. The restoration work has been completed and the deceased is kept in the bottom of a leather case with the cover missing. It is difficult to ascertain how well the initial postmortem image was produced. This piece has a light flair that may have happened when the second generation was duplicated. Flowing mold spiders are evident reaching inward towards the subject. Those are not scratches on the left side. If you are collecting the grotesque, please purchase this daguerreotype!
