Sixth Plate

AN ARTISTIC EMBELLISHMENT. That tiny brooch holding the gal?s black collar together absolutely sparkled when the daguerreian handed this resealed sixth plate daguerreotype to his young client. As I looked to my left just now, where the dag laid on my table, that piece of jewelry still leaps off the silvery surface. Gold was painted on her rings, blue on that table cloth (with a hint of pale red) that also accentuated the lass?s cheeks. She watched the gent behind the camera through dark bright pools highlighted by illumination that made her portrait possible. The cover of the leather case is missing. Small mat scrapes and those mold spiders aren?t so noticeable when the subject is studied. She wore a dark apron over her dress.
