AFTER 1860. A late portrait of a gentleman that has phenomenal holographic depth and outstanding applied pigments on the mirrored silver surface of his retaped sixth plate. Martin Kamer, our dear friend, dag and photo collector and expert on fashion replied when I asked him about the fellow?s dag, ?Possibly taken in the mid-60s. The jacket looks like a very heavy Melton Wool?. Who was the erudite gentleman and why did he require such an outstanding image done on sparkling holographic silver so late in the era? His masterful maker also knew how to use his palette of pigments. The splotches you see are breaks in the lovely patina that help hide mat marks. Faint black specks are noticeable! A wonderful deep brown toned push button leather case completes the marvelous presentation.
