WHERE WAS SHE POSED? A copy dag, taken circa 1844 and duplicated by Jeremiah Gurney AFTER he moved to 707 Broadway in 1857. Because the protector has a Patriotic theme popular during the Civil War the woman might have been reproduced circa 1861-1865. Impossible to know for sure. I WANT the original, which I don?t believe was taken in Gurney?s 589 Broadway gallery. In a fine red velvet book style leather case. On the reverse of a “Mr. Francis D. Cobb” calling card this inscription was written in ink: “Grandmother Cobb C. K. Cobbs Mother”. What a sensitive newly sealed sixth size daguerreotype even today!
