An older lady wore an amazing dress when she visited a daguerreotypist for this resealed sixth plate. Several physical and visual parts of her tinted portrait, the brass mat and separated leather case suggest a date of 1846-1847. The textured cloth suggests hard usage and might have indicated that an itinerant operator was responsible for her likeness. There is a line of mat scrapes along the bottom and a healthy collection of mold spiders. However, the subject still shines brightly.
