I’m looking at my scan and it simply doesn’t share with you the lovely little boys, with the wicked dirty hands who sat in an unknown location for this retaped sixth plate dag. So much more “chatter” is seen than any of us could possibly note while these youngsters are studied. The graininess and teeny brown specks are invisible to my eyes (and yes, I just purchased new reading glasses). Picking up my loupe, does reveal more. The lads’ expressions are great don’t you think? The younger fellow appears to have a vacant stare and forlorn expression. His companion was curious and apprehensive! The remainder of the flotsam and jetsam doesn’t bother the kids whose faces and lips were daubed with red pigments. The contrast and depth are both strong. The cover is missing from their leather case.
