Robert Jennings was no slouch when it came to clearly stating exactly what he was about after he had these descriptive blue labels printed with his trade. While John Craig listed Jennings as first advertising circa 1848 I firmly believe that this particular whole leather case with a very distinctive basket of over flowing flowers on the cover and a plain reverse was manufactured circa 1845 or even slightly earlier. The couple’s nicely tinted sixth plate that has been resealed was very difficult to reproduce. In good viewing light, the very pleasant lady leaps off the heavily tarnished surface. Those are breaks in the patina to the right of her pretty smiling face. The silver has a few teeny flaws that are not bothersome.
