THE LANGENHEIM BROTHERS . . . and a couple other daguerreotypists used an acid etched silver surface to apply pigments with magnificent successes to create remarkably colorful and valuable portraits. Unfortunately, this seems to have been a poor man?s results although I give the experimenter A for effort and D- for the ensuing results. Naturally, before the tarnish and all those spots grew over time maybe the day the gent received his resealed sixth plate, it actually did look so much better. The cover of his leather case is missing.
