AT TIMES . . . My scanned daguerreotypes present more to the viewer than what can actually be seen with the naked eye. This very serious chap seems to have discoloration in places that I don?t really think are there. And the specks and flecks are almost magnified as it were. His retaped sixth plate does have impressive deep depth. That wide swath of patina on the right covers part of his jacket. I don?t know what caused the blue dots. I think that the strong-willed fellow dressed in his finest when he was taken circa 1850. Tinting was painted on his darkened face. The cover of his leather case has disappeared.
