Sixth Plate

ELABORATE PAINTED SCENE. The young girl was comfortably posed in front of that outdoor view in an unidentified daguerreian?s gallery. Broad window light from the right with a large reflector opposite, balanced the illumination very evenly. The retaped sixth plate with an archival seal rests inside a complete leather case. The child parted her lips slightly during the exposure. She watched the camera operator and probably wondered what the results might look like. Her wire mesh purse rested in her lap. The front of that dress with the large buttons covered with cloth was unusual. Faint patina is visible in places. The bright spot lower left was a bubble in the cover glass.
