Sixth Plate

HER BEST DRESS. This is one of those dresses where I wonder what the colors were, especially with that lovely, wide ribbon tied around her neck. The dressmaker added a bit of edging to accent her sleeves. The girl remained still for the exposure and was rewarded with a nice sixth plate daguerreotype. The maker inexpertly tinted her cheeks – you can see the pink pigment escaping them on either side. The dag is resealed and in nice condition with just a few tiny spots here and there. The dag comes in a case with a split spine and silk pad.
