THE . . .Undulating curves in the carved wooden furniture gently caressed the back of the starry-eyed miss who sat motionless while a sixth size likeness was taken about 1850. Her raven tresses were pulled away from her pale face and wound tightly into long braids. The youthful damsel crossed her wrists and rested both arms on her thighs. Broad light lit her evenly and it is obvious even in my reproduction that the depth is superlative, along with marvelous contrast. Holding the bottom of the leather case in my hand just now looking at the winsome lass in good illumination allows me to almost engage in a dialogue with her. She IS ready to speak to the next collector too. The mold spiders are there plus moderate patina coursing in and out of the scallops! A very impressive portrait for sure!
