COUNT THE PORES! I am baffled by such a razor sharp face that is actually a bit mushy in the man’s newly sealed sixth size image. Did he somehow move the top and sides of his head while keeping that weather beaten face motionless? Or, did the daguerreian bump his camera while the lens captured the fellow’s expression? Neither thought rings true does it? No, the maker actually focused on a point between his patron and himself and the depth of field just barely reached the gentleman’s features. His strength of character is extremely evident. The darker tonality along with brilliant white is awesome! The haziness inside the mat is tarnish. Some mat abrasions and light dots are meaningless. The late wooden and cloth case has a poorly repaired spine.
