DID HE MOVE? The man was certainly in motion, yet I am uncertain if the real culprit wasn’t the daguerreotypist who might have nudged his camera or tripod ever so slightly during the taking of his splendid elderly patron. Most remarkable are the man’s penetrating eyes. He was looking directly into the lens but I know he is watching me now while I hold his poignant lovely tinted sixth plate with a new archival seal. The unintentional swirl of motion on his white mane and the doubling of his person allowed the august sitter to have a rare effect of his life passing before his own view. If you seek dags with untouched silver and original tarnish, please consider this example. The man is nestled inside a complete leather case. The portrait changes tonality and hue as the angle of study is altered!
