TIS A SHAME! If only the old weeping glass had been discarded 100 years ago and the tarnish didn’t aggressively challenge the gorgeous, sensual woman’s retaped dreamy likeness, I might have added her to my permanent collection. Although the black dots across the bottom fifth of the piece and parallel scratches are a bit bothersome, I still have enjoyed owning her countenance! The smile on the fair beauty’s sixth sized freckled face would have melted any critic’s opinion of her. Although the daguerreotypist (who must have been her husband OR could the lady have actually been the operator) wasn’t completely comfortable with producing the highest quality reproductions, the gal rose above the technical deficiencies. Her leather case is apart. When the best angle of view is obtained, her facial tinting is lifelike and the reflected depth quite spectacular!
