FLOWERY DRAPERY! Who knew how many scratches were hiding on the surface of their recently cleaned and archivally resealed sixth plate. The silver was entirely tarnished and I only had a faint glimpse of the pair seated most likely on their front porch after a traveling maker had hung that decorative curtain behind ma and pa. Their heads almost look like they were positioned on cutouts of other people’s bodies. This strange likeness is endearing in an odd sort of way. Accomplished polishing of the silver was NOT high on the daguerreian’s list. Never the less he did achieve a modicum of success! The leather case has a loose hinge.
