THIS LITTLE MISS . . . Sat still with a wary expression on her cute face while a daguerreian captured her essence on a newly sealed sixth size plate kept in the bottom of a leather case. I am sometimes astounded when I look closely at kids’ hands in daguerreotypes. This child’s fingers aren’t too filthy. But the level of acceptable uncleanliness, even on an important day in the little gal’s life is rather instructive. No doubt her mom concentrated on scrubbing her daughter’s cute face! Good depth and sharpness are easily apparent. Oxidation inside the mat shape and a few mold mites are visible. There is also a pale circle that is difficult to find in the backdrop upper left.
