ISOLATION! The unidentified operator who produced this splendid retaped sixth sized portrait used his illumination perfectly and was able to define his seated client against a wall of darkness. Then to finish the fine daguerreotype, the maker used a skillful hand to apply realistic tinting to his face and hands. The oxidation has done funky swirly things on the highly reflective silvery surface. There is one mold dot on the boy?s lip and those brown specks came from the pigments I suspect. The white dots on his jacket might have been ?drips over time? from the original glass. Only the bottom of a leather case remains with the package.
