THAT WAS A PINKY RING. The boy sat calmly while his retaped sixth plate portrait was made. He might have moved his head ever so slightly when the lens was uncapped. A few stray buff marks are visible at certain viewing angles. I suspect that there was a chill in the air when the lad visited an unknown daguerreian. He wore wool trousers and a thick jacket. I?m glad that he left it unbuttoned to reveal that very snazzy vest. I also like his neckerchief! Pale pigments colored his ruby cheeks. There is a teeny brown dot under one eye. The condition is actually splendid. The complete leather case is later then his image, taken circa 1852.
