SO CLOSE TO PERFECTION. Let us discount the nearly invisible oxidation above the subject?s head. The subtle tinting was amazing. The gal?s presence on the silvery mirror is absolutely exquisite AND underneath her likeness was an inscription that reads: ?Edwards Hayden, Jersey lady, Mary Whipel (sic)?. The case has an old hinge repair and has tremendous wear. I have never seen a young lass with such a porcelain complexion in a daguerreotype! Her concentration was exemplary when she posed for an unknown daguerreian circa 1849. He added paint to her seed necklace and some gold tinting on those rings. Don?t you wonder what the occasion might have been the day she was taken?
