Sixth Plate

HER DAUGHTER I GUESS. This is a very curious cleaned (poorly) and resealed (not by us) sixth plate that presents a pair that might have been mom and child . . . or not. The woman had big almost bulging eyes while the wary girl, who held a book and crossed her arms waist high, intently watched the daguerreian make their portrait. There are mat scrapes and tarnish in a few places. The doubled specks are on the glass. A whole leather case holds the likeness. Inside a magnificent vase of flowers was impressed on a faded red pad.
