BUFFED BOTH WAYS! This was a very primitive sixth plate portrait presenting a handsome chap with buff marks done in both directions on the now tarnished silvery surface. His shirtfront was totally painted white because it solarized bright blue during the development process. Note also, that his shirt cuffs, that small book and even part of his fingers turned azure! It is difficult to determine beyond his red cheeks if more tinting was done or those flesh tones were caused by the patina. That was a huge reflector on the right. The gent is kept in a worn complete leather case. If you like your dags when they were executed by an unskilled practitioner of the art, try this delightful dandy!
