HAD TIGHT SEALS. Before the restoration was completed on the man’s sixth plate dag I believe that the paper binding the package together was done the day he was taken circa 1848. Consequently over time that spot in the drop developed around a flaw in the plate. The fellow?s pose and the selection of a white backdrop were both unusual near the end of this decade. He made an interesting character study with his hat head included. The cover of his leather case is missing. All those white dots are difficult to see. There are several brown specks and a watermark on the gent?s jacket sleeve. His face was colored better then seen in my scan.
