SHE CERTAINLY WAS . . . A perfectionist during her lifetime. The woman presents to us an absolutely impeccable sixth plate portrait of herself taken by an operator who produced fantastic tonality on her retaped silvered gem. I think the subject probably had green eyes and red or medium brown hair color that went perfectly with her pretty freckled face. Her maker embellished all her jewelry with gold and added a faint red wash to her lips and cheeks. When the cover of her separated leather case is removed the next owner will relish the reflected depth and overall elegance of the daguerreotype. There are a couple faint mold spiders near the gal?s head and a weak accumulation of mold mites especially on the left side near the band of brilliant patina. One mat scrape is also visible over there.
