SUCKING IN! What a serious sullen subject, who sat almost reluctantly in front of a camera while an unknown daguerreian did the best he could to present his client with this conserved sixth plate held in a leather case with the cover missing. Surprisingly, the reflected depth was very impressive although the mid-tones overall nearly negate that aspect of the portrait. Faint brown spots upper right and mold spider are on the silver.
