LOTS OF INFO! Please see the second scan that tells about the Buell brothers who posed for their restored sixth plate daguerreotype about 1855. I suspect William, born in 1846 sat on the left and younger Lewis, born in 1848 stood next to him and rested one hand on his sibling’s shoulder. Their mother thought that matching vests and turned down white collars would look best in what might have been their first formal portrait taken together. The daguerreotypist presented the family with a fine rendering of the boys. The tonality, deep depth and extended contrast range were all first rate. I must admit that their haircuts lacked a certain finished appearance. Pale patina hugs the mat in places. Any horizontal flaws seen were probably caused initially during the buffing procedure. A nice complete leather case holds their image.
